What is the change in Enthalpy (▲H)? How does it help to identify the types of thermo-chemical reactions?

Enthalpy is the heat energy possessed by a substance and denoted by H.

The change in heat content {enthalpy), during a chemical reaction is called charge in enthalpy and denoted by ▲H.

▲H = H2- H1

If the enthalpy of products is greater than that of reactants then ▲H is positive and the reaction is endothermic

For endothermic reaction, ▲H = +ve. · If the enthalpy of products is smaller than reactants, it is Exothermic reaction and ▲H = -VC
