Define: (i)Parasites (ii) Saprophytes (iii) Insectivorous plant


Parasites are those plants which are entirely or partially dependent upon living autotrophic plants for their food supply. E.g. Cuscuta.

(ii) saprophytes: 

These plants have no chlorophyll and derive their food from dead organic matter E.g Monotropa.

(iii)Insectivorous plant:

These plants are found in marshy places which are · deficient in nitrogen compounds and nitrates. Such plants feed on insects.They have peculiar shape, attractive colors, and nectar which attract insects. When the insect sits on its leaves it 1s trapped and at once digested by enzymes and finally absorbed.
