Define Electrolysis and write its two uses.



Definition:

Electrolysis is the process in which ions move towards opposite electrodes to undergo chemical charge when an electric current is passed through an electrolyte.

Uses of Electrolysis:

(i) Electrolysis is an important process used for the extraction of certain metals from their ores.

(ii) Many impure metals are purified into pure metals by electrolysis.
