3 salient features of Mendeleev’s periodic table.



Mendeleev’s periodic table salient features:

Elements are arranged in increasing order of atomic weight:

(i) It has 8 vertical columns called groups and 12 horizontal rows the periods.

(ii) Elements in each group have similar properties.

(iii) Vacant spaces were left for the elements not discovered until them. Prefix Eka was given, like eka-boron etc. Their estimated properties were also given.
